You know you need to show up. Something keeps stopping you.
The post's written. The reel's filmed. The profile's set up.
And you still haven't pressed publish.
You've been here before. You know what to do. You know why it matters. You've told yourself the same thing a hundred times - just do it, nobody's judging you, the algorithm rewards consistency, people need to hear what you have to say.
And something still won't move.
This is not a confidence problem. It's not a strategy problem. It's not laziness or perfectionism - although it can look exactly like both of those things from the outside.
What it actually is: a pattern running below the level of conscious thought. And it's been running a lot longer than your business has existed.
Why advice doesn't fix it
Most of what's out there for visibility fear is some version of the same thing: start small, show up imperfectly, remember your audience needs you, reframe the fear as excitement.
If any of that had worked, you wouldn't be reading this.
The reason advice doesn't shift it is that the pattern isn't coming from the part of you that reads advice. It's coming from somewhere older - a part that formed long before you had a business, long before social media existed, possibly long before you were old enough to name the feeling.
That part has one job. To keep you safe by keeping you unseen.
It doesn't know the difference between genuine threat and pressing publish on Instagram. It just knows that being visible has felt dangerous before. And it's going to keep doing its job until something changes at that level.
What fear of visibility actually looks like
It looks different for different people. But some version of this will be familiar.
You write the post, then delete it. You film the video, then find something wrong with it. You get halfway through a live and feel an overwhelming urge to stop. You look at someone else's content and think "I could do that" - and then don't. You tell yourself you're not ready, the time isn't right, you need a better setup, a clearer message, a more polished brand.
None of that is the real reason.
The real reason is that some part of you decided that being seen is not safe. And until that changes, no amount of strategy, accountability, or motivational content will shift it.
This isn't social anxiety
Fear of visibility isn't the same as social anxiety, although they can overlap. Social anxiety is broadly about social situations. Visibility fear is specifically about being perceived - being watched, judged, evaluated, found out.
It's the person who's perfectly comfortable in a room full of people but freezes in front of a camera. The coach who can hold space for a client for two hours but can't record a two-minute video. The consultant who charges well in private but can't bring themselves to post publicly about what they do.
The discomfort isn't about people. It's about being seen.
The work
What I do doesn't involve rehearsing confident thoughts or practising visibility in small doses. It goes directly to the part of you that's running the pattern - the part that decided, at some point, that being seen wasn't safe - and works with it there.
That part usually has a reason. It made sense at the time. It may have been protecting you from something real. The work isn't to fight it or override it. It's to update it - to help it understand that the threat it was protecting you from isn't the same as posting a video.
When that shifts, the behaviour changes. Not because you've built enough confidence to push through the fear. Because the fear has been resolved at the level it actually lives.
What clients say
"There was something stopping me and I knew the only way to move my business forward was to get more visible in Facebook lives and sharing social media content — but I had a complete mental block. With one session, Paul helped me lift that block. I walked away feeling lighter, feeling confident, feeling relief and actually embracing who I am." — Shinoa
"I was very resistant to outreach, to going out and contacting those people who desperately need my help. I found it repulsive to contact people. Through asking me questions and amplifying the absurdity of those beliefs, you allowed me to untie those knots. The problem that was obstructing my growth for months we were able to solve in less than an hour." — Iwona
Frequently asked questions
Is fear of visibility the same as imposter syndrome?
They often appear together but they're different. Imposter syndrome is about feeling like a fraud - fear of being found out. Visibility fear is specifically about being seen and judged. Some people have one, some have both. The work addresses whatever is actually running the pattern.
Why does this keep happening even when I know it's irrational?
Because knowing something is irrational doesn't change the part of you that's running the pattern. That part doesn't respond to logic. It responds to direct work at the level it operates - which is what this process does.
Can hypnotherapy really help with fear of visibility?
The people whose testimonials appear on this page had tried everything else first. One had a complete mental block on video that disappeared after a single session. Another had a block on outreach that had been running for months - resolved in under an hour.
How long does it take?
There's no standard answer because it depends on how long the pattern has been running and what's underneath it. Some people shift in a single session. Others need more. The Decision Reset Call is the starting point - it's there to find out what's actually going on before either of us commits to anything.
Do I need to have tried other things first?
No. But most people who come to me have. If you've already tried the advice, the coaching, the accountability, and you're still not moving - this is the conversation worth having.
Can this be done online?
Yes. Every session I run is on Zoom. The process works the same way - the work happens in the conversation, not the room. If you're based anywhere in the UK and you're ready to sort this, location isn't a factor.
